BIOGRAPHY LORENTZ

2002
DJ Lorentz, in normal life better known as Lorenzo van Kooten, was born July 21st 2002 in the Dutch city Helmond, based in the south of the Netherlands.

2003….
Growing up, the love for music was already discovered. Using the cooking pots as drum kit while his mother was cooking, was one of his favorites. But also participating on playback shows and singing along with his favorite cartoons, is what he liked to spend his time.

2013
At the age of 12, Lorenzo was watching on TV the broadcasting of Sensation where Tiësto was playing his set. Inspired from the show he decided to become a DJ as well and bought from his saved birthday money his first DJ controller.

2014
After time of struggling on the DJ set and a lot of practice it didn’t take a long time that Lorenzo was playing on a birthday party of one of his friends. This repeated itself playing on parties until at the end of the year he already got the chance to play on teenage parties in some clubs.

2015
Playing regularly on private parties, DJ contests, school- and teenage parties around the Netherlands, his talent for playing DJ was not unnoticed by other respected DJs, and so he got the support from many DJs to improve his skills.
This resulted that on a festival he was pushed forward to take over the wheels from DJ Jean to close the festival. The first time that 2.000 party people were in front of him, jumping and raising their hands.
The story just continued with playing in more clubs across the country and sharing stages with many well-known DJs and artists. By networking and showing his skills he even was invited to play a set at the prestigious Amsterdam Dance Event.

2016
Lorentz’s eagerness for playing music and improving his skills time after time resulted besides playing in clubs, festivals and many other parties, that on the young age of 13 he was already playing in clubs on the summer destinations like Albufeira and Chersonissos and climbed the main stage of Starbeach to treat the audience with the Lorentz sound in the for program of Revealed.
Off course playing on the Amsterdam Dance Event is not missing in this great year of his musical journey.

2017
Playing on big festivals, numerous clubs, hanging out with well-known DJ’s, get permission from school for day’s off playing on holiday destinations and attending ADE, playing the for program of Quintino on Starbeach, it all sounds like a fairy tale for Lorentz.
And then not forget to mention the highlight when Lorentz, just 14, was invited to play in one of the prestigious ‘Pacha” clubs.

2018
The train keeps running and more and more events are added to his list together with the list of DJ’s and artists where he shared the stage with.
This year Lorentz is focussing more and more on producing his own music and that is not unnoticed. Tiësto picked up “The Middle” bootleg Lorentz made and played it in his radio show.
Another highlight for him was to play in the same show as Lucas & Steve, Brooks and Bassjackers at Starbeach.

2019
In the year 2019 Lorentz decided to take it easy performing and focusing more on producing new music. Also, he was in his graduation year of his high school and needed to pass his exams. After the summer he started his education at the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht as dance producer.

2020
In January, he signed his first record deal at the age of 17 with Smash the House, the record label of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. His first track called ‘Override” was released on the label ‘’Generation Smash”.
